The 650mm 1500W Halogen Infrared Heat Lamp: Built for PET Bottle Blowing
We built this 650mm, 1500W halogen infrared heat lamp for one reason: to make PET bottle blowing smoother, faster, and more reliable. It’s all about heating preforms inside stretch blow molding machines, and it’s designed to deliver serious heat in a small space. The idea is simple—pack a lot of power into a compact footprint, so you get quick, repeatable temperature control without straining your system.
Why the 1500W power, and why 650mm?
That 1500W rating on a 650mm tube wasn’t pulled out of thin air. It’s a smart balance between watt density and coverage. You get enough heat flux to soften preforms fast, while the length fits neatly into standard machine zones. The voltage is chosen to match industrial power supplies, so you can wire it in without hunting around for extra transformers. And the 650mm length? It slips right into existing reflector setups and heating tunnels. This sizing also helps even out the temperature across the preform, which cuts down on hot spots and thin spots that can ruin a run.
What’s inside: halogen, quartz, coating, and the right connector
We went with a halogen-filled quartz envelope because it can take the heat and keeps output steady over time. The halogen cycle keeps the filament clean, which fights blackening and keeps performance consistent. The shortwave infrared hits PET fast, heating from the surface inward. That’s how you get quick, controllable cycles. The tube also has a reflective coating to push energy forward, so more heat lands on the preform instead of getting wasted. And the connector? It uses an R7s base, built for high temperature and high current. That means a straightforward, drop-in replacement in standard fixtures. No fuss.
How it feels on the line—and what to watch for
In bottle blowing, cycle time is money. This lamp heats preforms fast, so you can push through more bottles while keeping wall thickness stable. The concentrated infrared gives you tight control over the heating phase, which means fewer scrapped parts from uneven stretch and weak necks. The 650mm size fits the layouts you already know, so installation is basically a swap-out. Here’s the trade-off, though: packing 1500W into a short envelope means high heat density. So you need cooling and airflow around the lamp to be properly set up. If you don’t match the cooling to the lamp, you risk shortening its life. But when the lamp and the machine are in sync, you get repeatable heating with minimal downtime.
