We built this lamp for those moments when you can’t afford to wait for things to warm up. It’s a 1500W beast running on 220VAC, and it does something pretty cool: it pushes heat in a shortwave spectrum. Basically, instead of wasting time heating up all the air in the room, the energy goes straight into your material. It’s direct. It’s fast.
The power and the footprint
At 420mm long, this thing has a very specific “sweet spot” for heating. We kept it at 220V because, let’s be honest, nobody wants to mess around with custom transformers when they’re trying to get a factory line running. You can just drop it into your existing setup and get to work. But a quick heads-up: 1500W packed into a quartz tube getsinsanely hot. If your reflectors are dirty or slightly off-center, you’re asking for the lamp to burn out early. Keep them clean. Keep them aligned.
Why the quartz and halogen matter
Here is the secret sauce: the halogen cycle. It stops the tungsten filament from evaporating and gunking up the inside of the glass. That means the tube stays clear and the heat stays consistent for a long time. We use high-purity quartz because it can handle the “shock” of being turned on and off rapidly without shattering. **One huge tip:**Never touch the glass with your bare hands. I mean it. The oils from your skin create tiny hot spots that will cause the tube to crack once it hits full power. Grab some alcohol and wipe them down before you wire everything up. Your future self will thank you.
Putting it to work
You’ll usually see these in PET blowing, plastic welding, or drying lines. Because it’s shortwave heat, you can actually move the lamp further away from your workpiece. This is great because it gives you a bit more breathing room for your molds or conveyor belts. Just one last thing—since these hit hard and fast, make sure your control system (like your PID or SCR) can handle the initial surge. You don’t want a power spike messing up your day.
